Once registration is closed and bracket setup is finished, configure the following settings before starting your online tournament:

  • Round times

  • Round settings (Best Of or Total Games)

  • Round timers (auto-DQ timers and min/max verify timers)

Note: Round settings are not available until the bracket is generated with attendees. Once users start registering for the tournament, the bracket will generate and round settings will become available.

To do so, navigate to your bracket admin, click "Edit Round Settings" next to the round and configure the following tabs:

Round Times

Setting accurate round start times is important for running efficient tournaments as they indicate when attendees should be available for their match and when they can check in.

To set a round time:

  • Enter a time (your local timezone) in the Start Time field in the Times tab.

  • Enter the expected set duration in the Duration field

  • Round times can also be set for individual matches by clicking the match, going into the REPORT tab, and clicking Edit Time.

Update all Groups in Wave

Checking Update all Groups in Wave updates settings for equivalent rounds in the same wave. This is the ideal way to configure round timers as it applies settings from one pool across all pools.

For more information on configuring waves, see Using Scheduling.

Update Subsequent Rounds by Duration

Checking Update Subsequent Rounds by Duration updates all subsequent round times based on this round's Start Time and Duration. Winners and losers must be handled separately. This means if you are running a double elimination bracket, you must set up the losers round timers as well.

For guidelines on how to set round times, including best practices for start times, recommended durations/round timers/etc... see Online Bracket Configuration Best Practices.

Round Settings

Use this tab to determine Best Of or Total Games and number of games.

Select Update all Groups in Wave and Update Subsequent Rounds by Duration as needed.

Round Timers

DQ Timer

Amount of time players have to check in after round start time before being automatically disqualified from that specific round (not necessarily the entire tournament). The DQ timer will default to 15 minutes if not specified.

Verify Timers

Verify timers determine how long a player has to verify a result reported by an opponent before it is auto-verified. Each round the site will try to set the verify timers according to when the round should end, based on the start time plus the duration. This essentially means that if rounds are falling behind the verify timers, it will use the minimum verify timer to keep things moving more quickly.

  • You want to set the minimum verify timer to the shortest amount of time possible to allow players to verify the scores.

  • The maximum verify timer needs to be set to however long a game typically takes on average. The verify timer will default to 12 minutes if not specified.

Select Update all Groups in Wave and Update Subsequent Rounds by Duration as needed.

For guidelines on how to set verify timers, please see Online Bracket Configuration Best Practices.
