Round robin pools into double elimination final bracket

Round robin pools into double elimination final bracket

In this example we will set up 32 pools with 2 entrants progressing from each pool to a double elimination bracket. Before starting, you must have enabled the events you will be running.

  • Begin by changing the default phase's title to "Pools" and choose Round Robin as the pool type. This will be the first phase.

  • Add a phase titled "Bracket" and choose Double Elimination as the pool type. This will be the second phase.

Enter the following settings for the Pools phase:

  • Pools: Number of Pools – 32
  • Entrants: Make sure that the checkbox for “Automatically add entrants as they are added to the event” is checked.

Progressions: Number Progressing – 2. Destinations Phase – Bracket

Enter the following settings for the Bracket phase:

  • Pools: Number of Pools – 1
  • Entrants: For this example, all entrants progressing from pools will start on winners side of brackets. Make sure that the seeds from both Pools 1st place and Pools 2nd place are under the winners bracket section. You may use the arrows or the drop-down list to move the seed groups. Your Entrants section should look like this:

  • Progressions: Number Progressing - 1. Destinations Phase - empty.

Double elimination pools into Top 64 into Top 8

In this example we will set up 16 double elimination pools progressing into the Top 64 bracket. We will have a separate phase for Top 8 so that it may be run independently. Winners and losers will be preserved, essentially making this one giant bracket. We will also seed out the top 16 seeds, placing them directly into the Top 64 phase. Before starting, you must have enabled the events you will be running.

  1. Begin by changing the default phase’s title to “Pools” and choose Double Elimination as the pool type. This will be the first phase.
  2. Add phases titled “Top 64” and “Top 8” and choose Double Elimination as the pool type for each. These will be the second and third phases.
  3. Enter the following settings for the Pools phase:
    • Pools: Number of Pools – 16
    • Entrants: Here we need to remove the top 16 seeds from the phase. To do this, click “Edit” next to the Direct entrants group.

    • (Uncheck the top 16 seeds from the list. Also make sure that the checkbox for “Automatically add entrants as they are added to the event” is checked.)
    • Progressions: Number Progressing – 3. Destinations Phase – Top 64. Only 48 total entrants will progress from Pools since we will be adding the top 16 seeds directly into the Top 64 phase.
  4. Enter the following settings for the Top 64 phase:
    • Pools: Number of Pools – 1
    • Entrants: Now we need to add the top 16 seeds to this phase. Do this by clicking Add entrant group:

      • This will add the Direct entrants group.
      • Again, click Edit and select the top 16 entrants that were removed from the Pools phase.
      • The Winners Bracket should have the Direct entrants followed by Pools 1st place groups.
      • Move the Pools 2nd place and Pools 3rd place down to the Losers Bracket.
    • Progressions: Number Progressing - 8. Destination Phase - Top 8
  5. Enter the following settings for the Top 8 phase:
    • Pools: Number of Pools – 1
    • Entrants: Make sure the Top 8 Winners are in the winners bracket and the Top 8 Losers are in the losers bracket. For each group, choose “keep previous matchups” from the drop-down in order to preserve the continuity of the bracket.
    • Progressions: Number Progressing – 1. Destinations Phase – empty.
